NEW YORK — Upper-end case goods and upholstery manufacturer Kindel Grand Rapids will be showing its new Jeffery Roberts collection at the New York Design Center for the first time and also is expanding the same collection for the upcoming October High Point Market.
The company launched the designer collection at the April High Point Market with about a dozen accent tables and chests as well as several upholstered pieces. The pieces combined highly textured finishes with design elements such as turned legs and architecturally inspired forms.
In addition, there are mixed media elements such as embossed leather inserts, hair-on-hide tops and quilted walnut burl veneers.
Based on the positive reaction the company has received thus far, it plans to add a new glass top version of its Gear table at the New York Design Center in September. As part of the What’s New, What’s Next event held annually at NYDC, the company plans to show the entire collection, said Amy Wolbert,
Kindel’s senior vice president of marketing.
And for the first time, the company also is showing pieces from sister high-end brands Karges and Councill in the showroom, a 2,000 square-foot space located on the eighth floor in Suite 806.
“There will be six Councill pieces and five Karges pieces in the display, which intermingles with Kindel, as our brands are so compatible,” said Wolbert, adding that “Jeffery Roberts is also designing the entire showroom space for the What’s New, What’s Next, so we will have a whole new look.”
Kindel has shown at NYDC since 2012 and this is the first major overhaul of the space since 2014 when it was redone by designer Eric Cohler.
At the October High Point Market, Kindel plans to add new bedroom group to the Jeffery Roberts collection along with a matching ottoman for the Sydney chair also in the same collection. Kindel exhibits in the 200 Steele building, space 103.
